This one-movement work for brass quintet is somewhat restless and contemplative but ultimately uplifting. Although largely a showpiece for the 1st trumpet, each voice plays a role that characterizes a unique and dramatic brass sound. Each part requires control and independence from the performer to navigate exposed sections, mixed meter, and dynamic contrast.
